Equipped with thirteen years experience with a graduate education, I am an enthusiastic IT professional with a proven record of managing and rolling out hardware and software systems in a series of organisations.


Over my career I have had a broad exposure to PC and networking technologies and managing IT within various organisations. I have a history of identifying the need, performing the analysis, designing and the writing of various software systems.

Mar 2000 – 2004          Software projects predominately in the Education sector working with Oxford University Press, Canalys, FEDA.

                                      Spent four months at Canalys.coms upgrading their IT from Win 98/NT to Windows 2000, devised & implemented a backup strategy, and worked on their Web presence.


                                      CD ROM project work for Further Education Development Agency


                                      Consulted and won a contract to electronically distribute FEDA education projects to educational bodies. Using the browser as the user interface of choice, documents were embedded within a web site and delivered using an initial run of 10,000 CDs. The catalogue also has the advantage of mounting on-line when required.

                                      Interfootball.co.uk primary aim is to predict home wins on a weekly basis over the season, the statistical results over the last season, provide very promising results. Oct 99 – Feb 2000       Technical Manager for AMD European Roadshow – Advanced Micro Devices


                                      This entailed building and configuring 35 AMD Athlon systems and taking them on a pan-European road show aimed primarily at resellers, distributors and large businesses. I was responsible for setting up and running the audio-visual/computing side of the presentation rooms at the events as well as managing the demonstration systems.



Mar 98 – Sept 99         IT Systems Administrator - National Art Collections Fund


                                      Responsible for Project Management, I liased with the VB programmer at SDA logic systems and I specified, managed, tested and implemented the 32 bit Windows evolution of the existing 115,000 record membership system and a new ticketing system. This involved a radical overhaul of how the system performed as well as introducing different workflow practises that dramatically cut down the enrolment, payment and printing processes of the membership.


                                      I was also responsible for the Win NT rollout. I replaced, upgraded or cascaded all the systems to NT 4.0 workstations, I also introduced two NT servers, one primary to hold the databases and working data, the other as an exchange 5.5 server and to provide redundancy. Finally using TCP/IP each workstation was connected via an ISDN router providing Internet access.


Jan 1995-Feb 1998      Computer Officer for Sub-faculties of Politics and Sociology - Oxford University.


My main activities were running the IT department and creating a Politics ”virtual“ department by developing the department’s intranet.


I also provided computing services for the University’s commission of inquiry survey of students and staff. This work involved some Paradox and Delphi programming and considerable SPSS analyses.


Aug 1993-Jan 1995     I.T. Manager - Oxford Analytica Ltd, Oxford.


Worked on Netware rollout, I automated the creation and managed the E-mailing of the “Oxford Analytica’s daily Briefs” to clients.


Feb 1989-May 1992     PC Support Manager for UK & US - INTECO Corporation.


                                      Setup company’s Novell NetWare network, wrote and maintained administration and research Paradox database applications. Worked on multimedia technology and managed & organised the technology side of INTECO’s international multimedia conferences.


Nov 1986-Apr 1988     Worked as a training consultant for Tristar Data Systems and Ditec Ltd.

                                      I was responsible for providing training, hot-line support and programming spreadsheets to user specifications. Main packages were Spreadsheets, Paradox, DOS and Netware.
